Built under the orders of the Queen of Sursand Rani Kunwar in 1870, and this was when the Ghat got its name, beforehand it was Kachha land and was called Naghambar Ghat.
Janki Ghat has its steps up so high till the beginning of the alleyways, people believe the residents of Sursand are religiously inclined for goddess Seeta, that could be one of the reasons why this Ghat is is named after her .The Queen also built couple of temple devoting to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva above the Ghat.
