The city of numerous splendid Ghats, is one of the most renowned Ghats and is famous amongst the tourists and the locals of the town. Better known to be the southern edge of the city, Assi is often related to the story mentioned in Padma Purana where Varanasi is said to be named as the sacred area contained between two rivers, Varuna and Assi. Assi Ghat is situated in the eternal confluence of the Assi river and and the Ganges. The Subah e Banaras organized here every morning unites a crowd of thousands who come together to welcome the sunrise with art and Yoga.
