BANARAS is just not a city but a pious land of distinguished educational practices and millennial institutions. Since years, the religious discussions have echoed in every part of the city. The reverent river Ganga has been flowing through the city and sustaining lives here for generations. In the North part of Varanasi is the confluence of river Varuna and Ganga, making it the most ideal location to read and ponder upon the fundamentals, which is why J.Krishnamurti possibly chose to reside here during his annual visits to Varanasi.
Located at the Rajghat is the Study centre of J.Krishnamurti who was an Indian speaker Philosopher and has authored several books. The study centre has a library of Krishnamurti’s books, audio and video recordings of his talks, research material on his works. It has a spacious reading room facing the river, a video room, a silence room, a dialogue room, and a bookshop.
Krishnamurti’s teachings are available in English, Hindi and other Indian languages. A research scholarship programme is available to individuals who wish to research any aspect of Krishnamurti’s teachings. Theme Study Retreats and video screenings of Krishnamurti’s talks and dialogues on fundamental human issues are held here regularly. During our visit, a special exhibition was going on, titled ‘The first Step is the Last Step’, in the reminisce of 125th birth anniversary of Shri. J. Krishnamurti.
The calmness offered by the place holds the vibrations of the Krishnamurti and one cannot be left untouched by it. The place is of utmost vitality and essentially a religious centre being away from the city hustles, surrounded by greenery and nurtured by maa Ganga where you can spend the night under the open sky gazing at the stars and probably finding answers to some of your unanswered and unresolved thoughts.
So come to explore it and get lost in the ocean of knowledge in order to rise up and know the unknown.
