Banaras is a soulful blend of culture, art forms, history and heritage and taking these collectively, Banaras has been a testimony to the Indian Civilisation. What else could be a better preference for celebration of the North Indian classical music other than the “India’s Cultural Capital?”
The ancient singing style of North Indian classical music is Dhrupad. Dhrupad is a melodious coordination of vocal rhythm and verses, which consists mainly of euphemistic verses and is represented in different rhythms.
Since years now, the music festival of Varanasi called as the “DHRUPAD MELA” is organised at Tulsi Ghat which is a 3-4 days celebration and includes the noted and celebrated artists and musicians from across the globe who carry the music and art in their heart as the performers and contributors.
The Dhrupad mela is certainly one of the music festivals of Varanasi which is unmissable. The entire ambience and the overall experience here is divine. The soulful music, the calmness of Ganga, the serenity of Banaras and the gentle breeze of night taken altogether are sure to take you to a paradise of ecstasy.
This year the festival will begin from 8 March 2021 to 11 March 2021 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. each day at Tulsi Ghat.
So make sure to visit it and witness the divine music yourself.
