Formerly known as Kewalagiri ghat , it was completely rebuilt later in 1785 and extended by patronage of the prominent queen Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Beautiful temples can me spotted in the ghat, a temple of lord Hanuman along with two temples of Lord Shiva were also established by the queen. Ahilyabai Baadi a fortress on her name is also found on the head of this ghat. The Ghat is hence, named after Ahilyabai.
