The residence of Tulsidas, the writer of Ramcharitmanas, Tulsi Ghat used to be a part of Assi back in time. The Ghat was built in details by Peshwa Bajirao, and again in 1941 it was renovated by Baldev Das Birla. The very famous Lolark Kund of Varnasi is situated on top of this Ghat. During the month of August in the celebration of Shukla Shashthi devotees visit here to bathe in the pious pond. Tulsi Ghat has numerous temples around itself, and the chief priest of Sankatmochan Temple pays a visit to perform cultural and religious rituals here.
