Hanuman Ghat

It is believed that great saint Tulsidas has established a Hanuman Temple here during 18^th century A.D. which made it famous as Hanuman Ghat. The ancient name of this ghata was Rameswara ghat which was established by lord Ram himself as described in Geerwanpadamanjari(17^th century). At present it is inside the boundary of Juna Akhara. During 19^th century this ghat was stretched over a large area from the northern part of present Dandi Ghat to the southern part of Harischandra Ghat which is now devided into two large ghats called Hanuman Ghat and Karnataka Ghat. The neighborhood is dominated by south Indian residents.
