This was built by Balaji Peshwa-I in 1735, whose namesake is used for this Ghat . Later in c.1807 Lakshmana Bala of Gwalior repaired and renovated this ghat. Over the Ghat, in temple compound there are images of Gabhastisvara, Mangala Gauri and Mangala Vinayaka.  Mangala (“Auspiciousness”) Gauri is one among the nine motherly white Goddesses.
